Adams Update January 13, 2023

No School Monday

Reminder: there is no school for students this upcoming Monday, January 16. Teachers will be in professional development meetings. We hope our students enjoy the extended weekend, and we look forward to seeing you on Tuesday!

Adventures in the Adams Parking Lot

Just a quick reminder, during drop-off and pick-up times, please DO NOT exit the Adams parking lot through the driveway closest to the traffic light. This holds up the entire traffic line, and threatens the safety of students crossing Adams Drive by foot. We need to replace the sign that was there before, but in the meantime, please do not use that exit during drop-off and pick-up. Safety first--thank you!

Kindergarten Roundup!

The Adams Elementary Kindergarten Roundup parent meeting will occur on February 7, 2023, at 6:00 pm, in the Cafeteria. Please plan on attending if you have a child who will be five years of age on or before September 1, 2023. If you know of a child in your neighborhood who will be eligible to enter Kindergarten and whose parents might not receive this notice, please encourage them to call Adams Elementary School at 989-923-6037 to be added to our communications list.

• Online registration for the 2023-24 school year opens on January 16 for those enrolling a student in their home attendance area.
• Online registration for the 2023-24 school year opens on February 1 for those applying with an application for School of Choice. School of Choice applications for the 2023-2024 school year will be accepted from February 1 - March 31.

We recommend you have the following documents ready to be uploaded at the end of the enrollment form.

• Birth Certificate (Age 5 by September 1, 2023)
• Proof of Residency (Options: mortgage, lease, utility bill, tax bill, voter registration card, letter from corporate relocation office)
• Immunization Record (Immunizations received after enrollment may be updated before the start of the 2023-24 school year)
• Hearing and Vision Screening (Screenings completed after enrollment may be submitted before the start of the 2023-24 school year)
• Student IEP/504 Documents (if applicable)
• Proof of Family Relationship (if applicable)
• Custody Papers from Court (if applicable
• Guardianship Papers (if applicable)

If you have one or more students currently enrolled in Midland Public Schools, and you need to enroll a new Kindergarten student for 2023-24, log in using your existing ParentVUE user ID and password.

Hearing and Vision Screening

Hearing and vision screening clinics will be from May 1st -5th & May 8th-12th. Call the Midland County Health Department at 989.832.6673 to schedule an appointment. Screenings are free.

If your child has been previously screened between the ages of 3 and Kindergarten entry, and you need a copy of the record, call the Heath Department.

PTO Highlights

There are a number of exciting PTO events coming up soon. Next Wednesday and Thursday we have an exciting, new restaurant "night:" doughnuts at Ace Hardware! Head to Ace Hardware next Wednesday, January 18 or Thursday, January 19, let them know you're there to support the Adams PTO, and pick up some delicious doughnut treats for your family. We also have our next Skate Night just around the corner, also on Thursday, January 19.
